CAMPBELL HALL, N.Y. (Sept 28, 2016)—As of Oct. 30, Access Physical Therapy & Wellness will no longer accept insurance plans from MVP Health Care. After several attempts to negotiate fair reimbursement practices, MVP refused to meet industry standards, and regretfully, Access will no longer be able to accept them as an insurance carrier.

By refusing to meet industry standards in reimbursement practices, insurance companies affect the relationship between doctor and patient. Access will not maintain relationships with insurance companies that have reimbursement practices that could compromise the care that they are committed to providing their patients.

“The cost of operating a physical therapy practice—like the cost of living—goes up every year, but certain insurance companies actually decrease our payments over time,” said Chris Albanese, owner of Access Physical Therapy & Wellness. “We refuse to waiver on our high standards of care and cannot continue to provide the quality, personalized care that we give to all of our patients based on the rate that MVP was paying us.”

For patients who have MVP insurance, their treatment will continue as normal. If their treatment plan extends beyond Oct. 30, they can use out-of-network benefits to pay for their treatment, or discuss with Access about setting up alternative payment options.

Access encourages affected patients to call a MVP customer care representative to voice their dissatisfaction.  You can contact your representative by either calling the phone number on the back of your member ID card or by dialing 1-888-687-6277 (Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.)

Access provides services for orthopedic injuries, multiple sclerosis, temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders, difficulty walking, poor balance, arthritis and more. Hours of operation are 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday through Friday, and 8 a.m. to noon on Saturdays.
