Bethlehem, PA (July 19, 2019) – The director of Hands on Healing Physical Therapy, Eric Fontaine, PT, DPT, is certified as an Orthopedic Clinical Specialist (OCS) after passing the OCS exam. Licensed physical therapists can specialize in orthopedics without taking an OCS certification. However, if they wish to obtain specialist certification, therapists must have over 2,000 hours of patient care experience in orthopedic therapy within the past decade and pass a rigorous examination of specific content knowledge.

“While rigorous and challenging, I believe my practice and advanced study in preparation for the exam have translated to improved patient outcomes in my clinic,” said Fontaine. “I have learned how to more specifically treat the orthopedic problems that my patients bring to me and try to look more holistically with regard to treatment throughout the body in more challenging patients. I continue to grow as a clinician and this experience has helped me improve the way I approach the clinical problems I encounter daily.”

Orthopedics is a medical specialty dealing with the movement and interaction of the musculoskeletal system with other systems of the body. Injuries, disease, and age-related problems can make it difficult for individuals to move without pain and these issues pose significant functional barriers with many patients. An orthopedic clinical specialist works to prevent and fix these problems.

Hands on Healing provides services for orthopedic injuries, multiple sclerosis, temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders, difficulty walking, poor balance, arthritis and more. To find out more about Hands on Healing, call the office at (610) 571-9553 or send an email
