(May 25, 2017)—Access Physical Therapy & Wellness is pleased to announce the addition of post-concussion treatment to its current outpatient treatment rehabilitation services within the Bon Secours Charity Heath System, a member of the Westchester Medical Center Health Network. These services are currently available at Good Samaritan Hospital in Suffern.

“The concern about the long-term effects of concussions are becoming more prevalent among parents who have children who play school sports,” said Access co-owner Stephen Albanese, PT, DPT. “I’m proud that we can now offer comprehensive treatment for patients who have suffered concussions through our ImPact certified therapists working in the Good Samaritan Hospital.”Catherine Croce, PT, DPT and Dan Wood, OTR/L have become credentialed through ImPACT’s trained physical therapist (ITPT) and occupational therapist (ITOT) programs for concussion management. Furthermore, Catherine is certified in vestibular rehabilitation from the American Institute of Balance.

The team at Good Samaritan offers extensive evaluation and treatment for
patients who are suffering from symptoms of post-concussion syndrome that may include, but are not limited to: increased dizziness, general imbalance, double vision, convergence insufficiency, increased headaches, neck pain and activity intolerance.With the prevalence of concussions rising, physical and occupational therapists are trained to be an integral part of a multi-disciplinary rehabilitation team. In conjunction with local area physicians, such as Nicholas Belasco, DO, board certified Sports Medicine Physician, Credentialed ImPACT Consultant and Medical Director of the Bon Secours Concussion Management and Rehabilitation Program, the rehabilitation team at Good Samaritan Hospital offers a complete approach to treatment of post-concussion symptoms.
