ALLENTOWN, Pa. (May 11, 2017)—Hands on Healing Physical Therapy Center is now offering direct access through its Cedar Crest Boulevard location. Direct access allows patients to see a physical therapist without a prescription and still have their treatment covered by their insurance.

In Pennsylvania, a physical therapist must be practicing for three years before they can be granted a direct access license.

“I’m very excited that we are now able to offer direct access to our patients,” said Hands on Healing Director, Krishna Khamar, PT, DPT. “I am confident that utilization of direct access services can really simplify a patient’s recovery experience by getting right to the root of the problem and allowing for a treatment plan as quickly as possible.”

Direct access also benefits those suffering from chronic pain. For the past several months, Hands on Healing has been promoting #ChoosePT, a campaign aimed at encouraging those suffering with chronic pain to forgo opioid pain medication in favor of a physical therapy regimen designed to manage and reverse chronic pain.

Hands on Healing, located at 1040 S. Cedar Crest Blvd, provides services for orthopedic injuries, multiple sclerosis, temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders, difficulty walking, poor balance, arthritis and more. Hours of operation are 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday through Thursday, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday and 8 a.m. to noon on Saturdays.
