At Home Physical Therapy Options for Joint Replacement Patients
You’re Scheduled for Surgery, Now What?
ACCESS PT at Home Pre-Hab Physical Therapy Visit
Our prehab program is designed to maximize a patient’s postoperative outcome and help to facilitate a faster recovery, typically before a total joint replacement surgery. We will come to the patient’s home and perform an assessment of their layout, accessibility, and safety before they have their surgery. We will recommend appropriate assistive equipment, give safety suggestions regarding the home layout, and explain what to expect for recovery and rehabilitation exercises after surgery. This program begins 1-2 weeks prior to a patient’s scheduled surgery. This program is usually covered by insurance.
ACCESS PT at Home Post-Surgical Visits
After a patient’s acute care stay or short-term rehab, our trained Physical Therapist will go to the home to provide physical therapy treatment while they are recovering from their surgery. During this time, we will focus on function and safety, as well as strengthening and conditioning appropriate to the type of surgery performed and the patient’s surroundings.
*Please call prior to your surgery to set up your post-surgical appointment to confirm availability and set up the appointment with your Physical Therapist.
Patient Transition to Outpatient Office
Your ACCESS PT therapist will schedule you for an evaluation at our most convenient outpatient office so you can continue your rehabilitation program.
