Karen McCarthy PT, DPT
Area DirectorKaren McCarthy received her bachelor’s degree in Health Science in 2009 and her Doctorate of Physical Therapy in 2012 from the University of Florida.
She began her career in the acute care setting while living in New Jersey. Working primarily in the ICU department, she successfully implemented protocols for early mobilization based on current research. After getting married, Karen moved to the Hudson Valley area and joined the Access Physical Therapy & Wellness family in early 2017 to further her career in outpatient orthopedics.
Karen’s clinical experience is primarily in orthopedic, vestibular, and geriatric physical therapy. She has a special interest in vestibular rehabilitation, and has completed continuing education coursework in that area. As a physical therapist, she loves making a difference in her patients’ lives and getting to know them on a personal level.
In her free time, Karen likes to relax and visit her hometown on the Jersey Shore.

DirectorAfter graduating from The National Sports Academy in Sofia, Bulgaria with a Master in Kinesiotherapy and Physical Education, she practiced as a kinesiotherapist (Physical Therapist) in Bulgaria for 10 years. Upon moving to the United States, she received a Masters in Physical Therapy from Mercy College in 2006. Galia continues to take a variety of continuing education courses and certifications.
Her areas of expertise include the treatment of a variety of sports related injuries, with a special interest in the treatment of gymnastics and dance related injuries, and the promotion of overall health and wellness.
As a former competitive gymnast, Galia still enjoys coaching and judging gymnastics competitions as well as spending time with her husband and daughter.

Prior to that, she earned her Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science from Adelphi University. Kenedy enjoys helping patients achieve their goals and improve their quality of life through physical therapy. She has a passion for manual therapy and helping patients through hands-on techniques. Above all else, she enjoys having fun and building lasting relationships with his patients. In her free time, she enjoys hiking and traveling around the world.
